On January 20, 2026, a delegation from the Ministry of Public Health of Thailand, led by Permanent Secretary Somruk Jungsaman, visited the Shanghai Clinical Research and Trial Center. The delegation was warmly received by Dr. Chouwen Zhu, President of the Center, along with representatives from several collaborating institutions and companies. Both sides exchanged views on clinical research platform development, nuclear medicine, medical technology translation, and potential areas of collaboration.

During the visit, the two sides held an exchange session covering areas such as clinical research platform development, nuclear medicine advancement, and industrial translation of medical technologies. Dr. Zhu introduced the Center’s vision, progress in construction, and key research fields, emphasizing its role as an open translational platform integrating strengths from ShanghaiTech University in biomedicine, AI, medical devices, and new materials.

Presentations were given by partner organizations: CorrectSequence Therapeutics introduced its clinical-stage base editing therapy for genetic blood disorders; the Center’s Nuclear Medicine Department shared progress in molecular imaging and radiopharmaceuticals; APACTRON presented advances in domestic proton therapy systems; and the CAS Innovation Cooperation Center (Bangkok) highlighted its role in fostering China-Thailand partnerships in healthcare and industry.

Following the meeting, both sides exchanged commemorative souvenirs, after which the delegation toured the Center’s construction site.

Looking ahead, the Center will continue to promote practical and open collaboration with international partners, furthering clinical research and technology translation for the benefit of patients in China, Thailand, and beyond.
