Jointly hosted by the Shanghai Clinical Research and Trial Center and the ShanghaiTech University Trade Union, the Caring for Health Along the Medical Journey event was held on September 21 at the Multi‑function Hall, Conference Center, bringing practical health resources to faculty, students and their family members.

Cheng Dengfeng, director of the Nuclear Medicine Department at the Shanghai Clinical Research and Trial Center, chaired the keynote session. Zhang Shuning, Deputy Director of the Department of Cardiology and Chief Physician at Zhongshan Hospital, Fudan University, delivered the lecture Protecting Your Heart: Preventing Sudden Cardiac Death. Drawing on clinical data, he highlighted the rising risk of sudden cardiac death among young‑ and middle‑aged groups, caused by factors including heavy workload, irregular lifestyles and sustained mental stress. He explained typical and atypical warning signs of cardiac emergencies and shared evidence‑based guidance on emergency response, bystander CPR and AED application. Interactive exchanges were well‑received among onsite participants.

Following the lecture, a multi‑specialty on‑site consultation session opened to attendees. Clinicians from gastroenterology, orthopedics, rheumatology, nephrology, urology, neurology, oncology and other departments offered one‑on‑one advice covering gastrointestinal disorders, joint and autoimmune conditions, gout, physical examination report interpretation, vaccination, sleep‑related issues, cerebrovascular risks, cancer prevention as well as thyroid and breast nodule assessment. 

The activity represents one of the center’s ongoing community‑oriented initiatives. Going forward, the two organizers will continue rolling out tailored health‑promotion programmes for the campus community.
